HomeMy WebLinkAbout05-27 r LAKEVILLE PARKS AND RECREATION COMMISSION LAKE VILLE, MINNESOTA May 27, 1970 Meeting, was called to order by chairman Lambert at 8 :00 PM. Present: Edmond, Freidges, Setten, Lambert and Mayor Jensen. 1. Valley Park Because Vern Donay's men have not graded and worked the land at the 15 acre park,_we asked the Mayor if Lakeville's Maintenance Men could work the land on the terraced area and seed the slope and terraced area. Mayor Jensen agreed to the request. 2. The remainder -of the meeting was devoted to a presentation regarding "Parks and Open Space System Plan" by Tom Dunbar of Midwest Planning _..and Research-Inc;. Mr. Dunbar s- tarted his presentation by reviewing the aerial map of the village. He stated that he had work copies made of our maps and that the originals could be stored and pre- -served. He continued the presentation showing the following 6 maps: a. Resource Inventory (includes tree cover) b. Soil Classification c. Transportation d. Existing Land Use e. Proposed Land Use f. Proposed Park System Mr. Dunbar explained the Proposed Park System Map in detail._ This map contained 15 preliminary sites ranging from 304 to 32 acres and from partial tree cover and flat land to dense tree cover, bogs and slopes of 140 feet. See attached list. -The Commission requested Mr. Dunbar to add a site on the South East corner of Lake Marion. This site is currently under consideration as dedicated land by a builder. The commission agreed to accept the comprehensive plan with the one addition mentioned above. Considering the following priorities: Residential Area Parks, Lake Frontages and Village Size Parks, the Commission choose five sites for the initial request for Federal Aida They are as listed on the map: 1P -2.00 acres;, 3P -304 acres; 6P -214 acres; 9P -32 acres and 16P- Lake Marion site. In order to get 50 Federal Aid, the Village must show how it will finance the remaining 50 ie: Bonds. Once the Village Council accepts the Comprehensive Plan, we need the following information to submit a request for Federal Aid: a. Legal Description h. .:.Plat Maps Boundaries c. Potential Use d. Area Map Showing relationship to the Metro Area. e Two Price; Appraisals The Comprehensive Park and Open Space Study will be presented to the Village Council on June 15 1970 'for' their acceptance. _Mr. Dunbar from Midwest Planning will assist with the presentation. He will submit a resume and map to the Village Clerk to be included with the June 15th agenda. 3. A map of the existing park land was submitted to Mr. Dunbar for in- elusion to existing maps.
