Minutes for meeting on: May 20, 2009
ITEM 1 Call to order
The meeting was called to order in the Council Chambers at 6:00 p.m.
ITEM 2 Roll call
Committee members present were: K. Miller, J. Peterson, H. Lovelace, Tom Goodwin, Scott Kelly, Bob
Boerschel, and P. Messinger J Hayes was absent. Also present was Parks and Recreation Director Steve
Michaud.
ITEM 3 Approval of the May 6, 2009 meeting minutes
The minutes of the May 6, 2009 Parks, Recreation and Natural Resources Committee meeting were
presented. They were approved as written.
ITEM 4 Citizen comments
There were no citizens present.
ITEM 5 Staff reports and summary of current projects
In addition to written report, staff discussed the downtown Market Plaza progress, the success of the
Lakeville Rotary Taste of Lakeville event. City Council completed a review of the five year capital
improvement program. Staff is working with the street department to have the crosswalk on Flagstaff
installed to access Greenridge Park. Staff updated the committee on the memorial held for the Boushee
family at Casperson Park playground. Interviews for the Senior Administrative Assistant position were
completed. Staff attended a Dakota County greenway collaborative meeting. Staff was meeting with
owners of Brackett's Crossings and staff from Three Rivers Park district to review the final plan for public
parking lot providing access to Murphy Hannerhan Park Reserve. The project is planned to start this fall
ITEM 6 Ace Hardware /Market Plaza preliminary and final plat
Staff explained the proposed plat and plans to relocate Ace Hardware to the site. There were no questions.
(09.10) Motion made by P. Messinger and seconded by Howie Lovelace to recommend City Council
consider approval of the preliminary and final plat of Ace Hardware /Market Plaza. In addition, the
developer will be required to pay a park dedication fee at the commercial rate.
The developer is also required to follow the natural resources requirement detailed in the Planning and
Engineering reports associated with tree preservation, grading, drainage, and erosion control and further
recommendations by the Dakota County Soil and Water Conservation District, if applicable.

Motion passed.
ITEM 7 Unfinished business
There were no items to discuss.
ITEM 8 New business
Staff discussed the annual June Park Tour. It was decided the tour will take place on June 17, 2009.
ITEM 9 Announcements
The next meeting of the Parks, Recreation and Natural Resources Committee is scheduled for June 3, 2009
at 6:00 p.m. at City Hall (Council Chambers). However, there are no planning items on the agenda at this
time.

ITEM 11 Adjourn
A motion was made by Lovelace and seconded by Goodwin. The meeting adjourned at 7:05 p.m.
