Even though the time may seem right to take the leap to homeownership, the CDA wants people to be prepared so they can be successful homeowners. The CDA offers free pre purchase counseling for those looking to buy a home now or in the future. Through this program, homebuyers receive individual counseling to create a plan to become successful homeowners. Counseling topics may include: Credit report review Steps to improve credit Loan options that best meet needs Identifying barriers to homeownership and presenting solutions to remove those barriers Household budget Saving toward a down payment Predatory lending For more information or to schedule an appointment, please call Shannon Kehoe at 651 -675- 4472 or Rachel Smith at 651- 675 -4471. A pre purchase housing counselor will also be available during the CDA's extended counseling hours, which take place every third Wednesday of the month. This month, counselors will be available until 7 p.m. on Wednesday, October 2 1. c DA ko nty Community y ota C u Development Agency Dakota County Stats September 2009 In The News t M E OWNERSHIP ttnectim of Sheriff Sales in September 157 (compared to 180 in September 2008) Total Sheriff Sales for 2009 1,349 (compared to 1,631 jan.- September, 2008) of Notices of Pendency Filed in September 344 Total Notices of Pendency Filed for 2009 2,971 A Notice of Pendency is filed by a mortgage company's attorney as official notification that the foreclosure process has begun. If you need assistance using this Web page, please call Randy Knippel or Mary Hagerman with the Office of GIS at (952) 891 -7081. Provided in this PDF file are a few notable foreclosure articles that were published in the last month. Among the points of interest: A feature article that shows the struggles of greater Minnesota since the recession began two years ago. U.S. Treasury Department officials say that even if President Obama's Home Affordable Modification Program is a complete success, millions of foreclosures can still be expected. Analysts anticipate more than six millions families could lose their homes in the next three years. The Minnesota foreclosure rate remained the highest in the Upper Midwest during August, and was 21St highest in the nation. In August, a record 7.58 percent of homeowners with mortgages were at least 30 days late on their mortgage payment. August marked the fourth consecutive monthly increase in delinquencies.
