AN ORDINANCE AMENDING TITLE 5, CHAPTER 1
OF THE LAKEVILLE CITY CODE CONCERNtNG
LICENSING OF ANIMALS
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF`LAKEVILLE, MINNESOTA ORDAINSc
SECTION 1. Section 5-1-3(A) and Section 5-1-3(B) of the Lakeville City
Code are amended to read:
5-1-3: LICENSE APPLICATIONS:
A, Application for a dog license shall be made to the city. Applications fora kennel.
license shall be made to the city planner. It shall include such descriptive
information as is necessary. to provide a reasonable identification of the dog and its:
owner. Applications shall be made on a form as prescribed by the city.
B. All. dog'[icensesand kennel licenses shall be issued for either one year or two years
beginning with January 1. Applications for licenses may be .made thirty (30) days
prior to the start of the licensing year, and thereafter during the licensing year. Any
owner who secures a dog after the start of a license year shall be allowed thirty
(30) days after acquiring such dog to secure a license. Any dog owner upon. first
becoming a resident of .the city shall be allowed thirty (30) days from such time
within which to obtain a dog license.
.SECTION<2. Section. 5-1-5(A) of the Lakeville City Code is amended to
read:
5-1-5 VACCINATION REQUIRED, REPORTS OF RABIES:
A. Rabies Vaccination; A License Prerequisite:- No license shall.. be granted for a dog
which has not been vaccinated .against rabies as provided in this section..:. The
vaccine used shat( be only that type of vaccine known as modified .live vaccine. The
vaccination shall be .performed .only by a doctor qualified to .practice veterinary
medicine in the state in which the dog is vaccinated. The veterinarian who

vaccinates a dog. to be .licensed in the city shall complete a certificate of vaccination.
One copy shall be retained in the veterinarian's files. A valid certificate of
vaccination must be presented to the City of Lakeville with the license application..
SECTION 3. This ordinance shall be effective immediately upon its passage.

THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
LAKEVILLE, MINNESOTA ORDAINS:
