Home My WebLink About05-022 • CITY OF LAKEVILLE DAKOTA COUNTY, MINNESOTA DATE: March 7, .2005 RESOLUTION NO: OS-22 MOTION BY: Luick SECONDED BY: Bellows RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE OPERATIONS AND MAINTENANCE DEPARTMENT TO PLACE WEIGHT RESTRICTIONS ON THE FOLLOWING ROADS WHEREAS, pursuant to State Statute, local authorities may impose restrictions as to the weight of vehicles to be operated on roadways under their jurisdiction whenever such roadways, by reason of deterioration, rain, snow, or other climatic conditions, may be seriously damaged or destroyed unless permissible weights are reduced, and WHEREAS, winter and spring weather conditions make certain City roads and streets subject to damage from heavy vehicles, and WHEREAS, specific vehicles operating in accordance with state statute to service utilities, transport students, respond to emergencies, or remove trash and recyclables are exempt, within specified limits, from weight restrictions, and WHEREAS, weight restrictions are authorized to go into effect in the same timeframe as both the Minnesota Department of Transportation and Dakota County, and WHEREAS, all streets in Lakeville, unless otherwise posted, have a 5-ton weight limit and exceeding posted weight restrictions may be allowed in cases involving public health and safety. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of Lakeville, that weight restrictions are authorized to be placed as listed, by the Department of Operations and Maintenance, and remain in effect until the Minnesota Department of Transportation authorizes removal of weight restrictions.
