REPEAL OF TITLE 2 CHAPTER 2, LAKEVILLE CITY CODE
Proposed Action
Staff recommends adoption of the following motion: Move to adopt the ordinance
repealing Title 2, Chapter 2 of the Lakeville City Code
Overview
Title 2 Chapter 2, Civil Defense was created in 1970. Upon review of this ordinance,
several chapters are now in conflict with current city policy as well as state law. The
provisions in this ordinance regarding response to disaster or other emergency are now
covered by the Emergency Operations Plan. This ordinance is in conflict with current
emergency management practices in the State of Minnesota as well as the nation.
Primary Issues to Consider
The current ordinance is in conflict with current policy and plans.
The City Attorney advised this ordinance should be repealed and any items
needed be covered by city operating procedure in the form of the Emergency
Operations Plan.
Supporting Information
The Civil Defense Act of 1951 as written is no longer in existence and has
been modified or repealed by the State of Minnesota.

OF THE LAKEVILLE CITY CODE
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LAKEVILLE, MINNESOTA, ORDAINS:
Title 2, Chapter 2, of the Lakeville City Code is repealed in its
