Proposed Action — Introduction
Police Chief Thomas Vonhof will introduce the Lakeville Police Department's newest
K -9 team of Officer Jason Jensen and his K -9 partner, Zeus, to the City Council and the
community.
Overview
The newest member of the Lakeville Police Department is a one and a half year old
male German shepherd named Zeus. Officer Jason Jensen is the police K -9 handler
assigned to Zeus. This K -9 team has just successfully completed a four month basic
K-9 training course at the St. Paul Police Department and graduated on May 27 2010.
The basic K -9 school teaches the basic police K -9 skills of obedience, suspect and
victim tracking and apprehension to the new K -9 team.
Officer Jason Jensen and Zeus will be the sixth Police K -9 team since the Lakeville K -9
program's inception in 1986. Jason and Zeus are replacing the recently retired K -9
team of Sergeant Brigham Strole and his K -9 partner, Blue. Since graduating from K -9
school, Officer Jensen and Zeus have now joined our other K -9 team of Officer Chad
Loeffler and Shadow in their patrol duties of protecting and serving the citizens of
Lakeville.
