ARTS CENTER
JUNE, 2010
• The Cyprus Montessori School rented the theater for its end -of- school program on
Tuesday, June 1.
• Mary Wescott rented the theater for a student piano recital on Wednesday, June 2.
• The Area Learning Center of District 194 rented the theater for its graduation ceremony
and reception on Thursday, June 3.
• Primrose Preschool of Lakeville rented the theater for its graduation program on Friday,
June 4.
• Expressions! Community Theater held auditions for its summer show, The Education of
Angels on Sunday, June 6.
• Giant Step Theatre began rehearsal for its summer show, Tom and Huck on Monday,
June 7.
• Carolyn Reisinger rented the theater for a student piano recital on Saturday, June 10.
• The DeMars wedding was held in the theater on Saturday, June 10.
• The theater was rented on Sunday, June 11, for a family memorial gathering.
• Prairie Fire Children's Theatre began its first camp of the summer on Monday, June 14.
• Prairie Fire's production of Tom Sawyerwas presented to the public on Friday and
Saturday, June 18 and 19.
• Giant Step Theatre opened Tom and Huck, on Friday, June 25 and presented the show
six times over the weekend.
• The classroom was rented on Wednesday, June 30, for a babysitting class.
• Summer art camp this month included a youth drawing class and a preschool class
called Messy Hands.
• The pottery studio is offering adult classes plus an open studio evening for advanced
potters.

• Completed preparation of 2011 and 2012 Budgets
• Attended numerous planning meetings for P -O -P celebration

• Prepared Antlers volleyball courts for league play
• Installation of asphalt approach and drainage swale to Casperson Fishing Pier
• Replaced broken fence boards at Meadows and Casperson Parks
• Installed new concrete slab and bench in front of Ace Hardware
• Prepared Market Plaza /Arts Center for Farmers Market
• Assisted Tree Trust with modular block wall project at Orchard Lake Beach
• Completed off- street trail maintenance
Turf - Related Maintenance
• Applied fertilizer to North Park renovation areas and Round -up to infields and gravel

Athletic Fields
• Repainted wooden foul poles at Aronson Fields #1 -4 and replaced where needed
• Scalped and striped all athletic fields and dragged ballfields daily
• Laid out, scalped and striped 26 soccer decks for P -O -P Soccer Tournament

Landscaping / Forestry
• Trimmed suckers at Dakota Heights Park, removed miscellaneous dead trees throughout
system and chipped buckthorn at Oak Shores Park and Cherryview Conservation area
Flowers
• Removed weeds and applied pre- emergent weed control to ID sign planters /perennial
planting beds and watered flowers, perennials and new sod throughout system
Beaches
• Applied Copper Sulfate to beach swim areas and installed "Swim Area" and "No Wake"
buoys where needed
Special Events
• Set up and tear down for Memorial Day observance event and P -O -P Soccer Tournament
STS
• Spread fibar in playgrounds / painted hockey rink boards / removed vegetation at
Aronson and Prairie Lake infields / spread wood chips at Raven Lake trail / sanded and
re- stained tables at Pioneer Plaza / weeded perennial beds

• Dan and Patty are fully staffed with seasonal staff and summer programs officially
started June 14
• Leagues are in full operation at Aronson Park
• GPS Amazing Family Race was a hit with 10 teams

• Staff is working on POP events: July 4, Beach Bash, 4 & 1 -mile run, Softball Tourney,
Youth Play Day and Parade

SENIOR CENTER
JUNE, 2010
• We took a motor coach of seniors to the new Target Field to see a Twins game.
Everyone was pleased to see the stadium and enjoyed the game, even though it was
the hottest day in June!
• The "Essentials of Home Decorating" presentation had a good attendance.
• 35 ladies enjoyed a spring salad luncheon at Highview Hills, along with a presentation
on Amelia Earhart. This luncheon was planned by the Senior Center's summer intern,
Jenne Holm.
• Staff has been working on Pan -O -Prog programs.
• The VA Aid and Attendance Benefits seminar, sponsored by Dignity In -Home Care was
well- received, with 19 attendees.
• The computer support group and dime bingo continue to be popular programs.
• Our motorcycle group finally got to go on a group ride. The first two rides were
cancelled due to inclement weather. The bikers drove to Faribault for ice cream.
• 93 people attended the Pan -O -Prog dinner at Crystal Lake Golf Club.
• It is quieter here at the Senior Center, as several of our programs were discontinued for
the summer and will resume in September.
• 18 new members during this time period. Total membership (new and renewed) is 871.
(Unrenewed 2009 members have been taken off the membership roster.)
