Temporary Extension of Club Liquor License
Lakeville VFW Post 210
To Allow Consumption of Alcohol in the Outdoor Fenced Area
Proposed Action
Staff recommends adoption of the following motion: Move to approve an extension of
the Lakeville VFW Post 210 Club Liquor License for a private party on July 31, 2010.
Passage of this motion will result in the ability for the Lakeville VFW to allow
consumption of alcoholic beverages in the outdoor fenced -in area for one evening.
Overview
The Lakeville VFW has requested an extension of their club liquor license to allow the
consumption of alcohol at a wedding reception for a long time club member. This
celebration will be hosted inside the building and in the fenced -in patio area on the VFW
property. The extension would be valid from 2:30 PM to 9:00 PM on July 31, 2010.
This action will allow in -door operations to continue per their usual hours of operation.
The Lakeville VFW staff will control access to and from the fenced area to avoid alcohol
leaving the fenced area. Due to the number of guests and nature of the event, there
will be no requirement for off -duty police or additional security staff. There will be no
music outdoors.
The police department has no objection to this license extension, provided the VFW
complies with the conditions outlined in their letter dated July 7, 2010.
Primary Issues to Consider
Will this activity in the outdoor area cause a disturbance to the neighborhood?
Members and their guests are required to vacate the outdoor area at 9:00 p.m.

VFW 210 hereby requests that you give us permission to allow consumption of
alcoholic beverages outside our building on Saturday, July 31" 2010 from approximately
3 PM to 9 PM. The reason for this request is that two of our members (Bill and Candy
Hoffbeck) are having a belated wedding reception and would like to hold it in our back
yard. Those in attendance would be primarily VFW members, with a small handful of
other invited guests.
The following conditions would apply:
This event would be staged completely and solely within our fenced -in back yard.
No alcoholic beverages would be sold outside — all such purchases will occur
inside the building.
Attendees will not be allowed to bring their own alcoholic beverages to the event.
The VFW will provide all necessary security to insure that attendees do not leave
the fenced area with any type of alcoholic beverage.
We sincerely hope that you will provide the necessary permission for this event, as
Bill and Candy are long time members of our Post and Auxiliary and we would like very
much to help them celebrate their recent marriage in the manner they desire.
Thank you for your consideration.
Sincerely.
BARB HANSON
