MONTHLY REPORT

JULY, 2010
• Giant Step Theatre's Tom and Huck, continued through July 3, presenting the show for
an additional six performances.
• Pottery students donated time and talent to make 80 soup bowls to raise funds for the
local food shelf during Pan -O -Prog. The project used recycled clay and the firing fees
were covered by the students making all sales 100% profit. By the end of July $446 was
raised.
• On July 8, Pan -O- Prog's Picnic and Puppets event drew a crowd of 310 adults and
children.
• The July 10 Pan -O -Prog Talent Show consisted of 11 acts and drew an audience of 155.
• The Lakeville Garden Club presented its annual flower show during Pan -O -Prog in the
LAAC lobby on July 10.
• Pan -O -Prog royalty hosted a luncheon for all visiting festival royalty representing their
home communities in the Pan -O -Prog parade on Saturday, July 10.
• A local family rented the LAAC basement for a graduation party July 11.
• Prairie Fire Children's Theatre Camp ran from July 12 -17 culminating in 2 performances
of Sleeping Beauty on July 16 and 17, for a total audience attendance of 440.
• The current gallery exhibit consists of quilts on display by the Northern Star Statler Quilt
Club and the Minnesota Contemporary Quilt Club. This exhibit will remain open through
September 15.
• A local family rented the LAAC basement for a bridal shower July 31.
• Summer arts camp this month included Kids on Wheels, Garden Art, Passion for Fashion,
Whimsical Teapots, Pottery for your Pet, Adaptive Paint -a -Plate and Adaptive Jewelry.

• Expressions! Community Theater opens The Education of Angels on August 6, for a total
of six performances.
• Prairie Fire Children's Theatre concludes their summer theater camps at the Arts Center
with the Wizard of Oz, August 16 -21.
• Cactus Willie, Boxcar Bob & The Drifter are performing a country bluegrass show on
August 21.

• Removed and replaced concrete timbers at Casperson boat launch
• Irrigated trees, flowers and sod as needed throughout system
• Assisted with Tree Trust project at Orchard Lake Beach
• Reset Antlers and Casperson fishing piers
• Constructed reservation box for Prairie Lake shelter
• Repaired fences throughout system
• Processed Senior Center work orders
• Pressure washed park shelter concrete pads
Turf - Related Maintenance
• Applied fertilizer to athletic decks
• Tested, inspected and adjusted all irrigation systems
• Aerated and top- dressed Casperson soccer fields
Athletic Fields
• Laid out, scalped and striped lacrosse fields at South High School for P -O -P Tournament
• Scalped /striped all fields for numerous tournaments
• Installed new distance marker signs at Aronson Fields #1 -4
• Moved maintenance gate at Quigley -Sime Field #3
Landscaping/ Forestry
• Trimmed and pruned all perennial plantings throughout system
• Planted replacement trees at Parkview and north of 165 by Crystal Lake Golf Course
• Obtained quotes and completed the removal of 26 stumps in system
Trails
• Completed off- street trail maintenance
• Applied Round -up in trail cracks, parking lots and selected wood -chip trails
• Cut and sprayed willows on Juno Trail near 205 Street and in Village Creek Park
Special Events
• Set up and tear down for July 4 Event
• Prepared multiple sites for Pan -O -Prog events per services booklet
• Set up Showmobile and picnic tables for Relay for Life Event
• Prepared North Park for State Soccer Tournament

• A very successful Pan -O -Prog celebration. Record number of participation at all events
coordinated by Parks & Recreation
• Staff works closely with Park Maintenance, athletic associations and all the athletic
camps and tournaments that are hosted in Lakeville. An example of a busy weekend
was July 24. Baseball was host to 80 teams, Lacrosse 36 teams, and Soccer 96 teams.

• Staff is assisting with the final budget
• Working on the annual Safety Camp
• Program and staff evaluations will be done as the summer season winds down
• Staff is scheduling fall field usage
• The fall /winter brochure is scheduled to be delivered to Lakeville residents on August 28
SENIOR CENTER
JULY, 2010
• The two -day Pan -O -Prog Bazaar brought in $2,200 profit.
• Twenty -five babies competed in the Pan -O -Prog Baby Crawl; 2 were our members'
grandchildren.
• The Health Angels Biking Club had their annual "bike ride with the grandkids" day.
Twelve grandchildren went riding with 24 bikers.
• Dime Bingo is so popular that we went from holding it twice a month to offering it
weekly. Rummikub and Scrabble will be discontinued due to lack of interest.
• Three informational seminars were offered to the seniors this month; 10 people
attended each seminar.
• Two new programs offered this month: Hand & Foot and Current Event Discussion
Group. Both were well - attended.
• Duplicate bridge has been attracting five tables of bridge players.
• The motorcycle group rode to the SPAM Museum in Austin, MN for their long ride in
July.
• We offered two trips this month. Fifteen seniors dined at Hell's Kitchen and toured the
Basilica of St. Mary and the Weisman Art Museum. Twelve Red Hatters had tea in
Chaska.
• 6 new members during this time period. Total membership (new and renewed) is 909.
