Whereas, Retired Police Officer Jimmy Jensen, at age 86, is the oldest living retired
Lakeville police officer; and
Whereas, Jimmy Jensen began his career as a Lakeville township constable in 1966
and then as an officer for the Lakeville Police Department until he retired in 1986; and
Whereas, Jimmy Jensen has the distinction of being the only officer to work in four of
the five Lakeville police stations; the downtown station on Holyoke Avenue (next to
Erickson Drug store); the 207`'' Street station (now Despatch Industries); the Upper 209
Street station; the 20110 Holyoke Avenue station; and finally, the new station located on
183 Street; and
Whereas, allowing Jimmy Jensen the opportunity to be a honorary police officer will
bestow this unique career distinction to have worked in all five police stations; and
Now therefore, Let it be resolved that the City Council of Lakeville is honored to
highlight the long distinguished history of our police department serving this community
by appointing James Jensen as an "Honorary Lakeville Police Officer for a Day ".
I, Holly Dahl, Mayor of Lakeville do hereby proclaim Jimmy Jensen "Honorary
Lakeville Police Officer for a Day" on the 7 day of September, 2010.
