HomeMy WebLinkAbout04-137 CITY OF LAKEVILLE RESOLUTION DATE: July 6, 2004 RESOLUTION NO.: 04-137 MOTION BY Rieb SECONDED BY: W ff RESOLUTION ACCEPTING FEDERAL RECREATION TRAILS PROGRAM GRANT FOR LAKEVILLE SNO-TRACKERS TRAIL EQUIPMENT PURCHASE WHEREAS, the City of Lakeville together with the Lakeville Sno-Trackers Snowmobile Club has identified the need for replacement of the existing groomer used for snowmobile and cross-country ski trails; and WHEREAS, the current groomer is a 1989 Tucker Sno-Cat T-2000 and will be replaced with a 2005 Tucker TERRA Model 2000D-26-6-174 Rubber Track groomer with a 6BTA 174 Cummins Diesel engine and an Allison AT 2000 transmission (or equivalent); and WHEREAS, the purchase of a newer groomer will result in reduced down time, will provide .for increased usage during the optimum grooming time. and more grooming hours per season; and WHEREAS, the local community, including snowmobilers and skiers, benefit by use of maintained trails that provide individual recreation and exercise and provides an • additional local activity for community members to participate in; and WHEREAS, Lakeville Sno-Trackers. Snowmobile Club will finance $40,000 and receive $25,000 trade-in value on the existing grooming equipment. NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Lakeville hereby acknowledges and concurs with the purchase of grooming equipment partially being funded by the National Recreation Trail Program (up to $65,000),. and that Finance Director Dennis Feller is the Fiscal Agent for the City of Lakeville, being officed at City Hall, located at 20195 Holyoke Avenue, Lakeville, Minnesota 55044. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, the City of Lakeville will ensure the replacement groomer will be maintained for no less than 20 years.
