AN EMERGENCY ORDINANCE AMENDING TITLE 7 OF
THE LAKEVII.LE CITY CODE CONCERNING WATER SURFACE USAGE,
REGULATING OPERATION OF WATERCRAFT ON LAKE MARION
THE CITY COUNCII, OF TIC CITY OF LAKEVILLE ORDAINS:
SECTION 1. Section 7-2-3 of the Lakeville Ciry Code is amended by adding a new paragraph E. to
read as follows:
7-2-3: WATERCRAFT OPERATIONS REGULATID
E. Pursuant to Minnesota Statutes Sections 86B.201-.205, 459.20, and Minn. Rules Parts 6110.0300-
6110.3700, and in order to protect public and private property threatened by the high .water levels of
Lake Marion, a local state of emergency is hereby declared and the operation and speed of watercraft
on Lake Marion is hereby temporarily regulated.
City staff may post notice of a .slow-no wake requirement for any person operating a watercraft as
defined in M.S. Section 86B.005, Subd. 18., anywhere on Lake Marion when the level of the lake
reaches at least 983.6 feet as determined by a reading at the Lake Marion DNR gauge located on the
Lake Marion Bridge on Kenrick of 8.40 feet.
Upon posting at the public access, and upon other notice to the residents abutting Lake Marion, it
shall be unlawful for any person to operate a watercraft in excess of the slow minimum wake speed,
defined by this ordinance as the slowest speed possible while still maintaining steerage control
SECTION 2. This ordinance shall be effective immediately upon its passage. City staff shall
provide public notice of this emergency ordinance by posting in appropriate areas and by publication.
ADOPTED this 28th day of July , 1997, by the Ciry Council of the City of Lakeville.

dains:
