BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Lakeville that effective July 7, 2003, the policy entitled "Dress Code Policy". is approved and added in the General Policies section of the Employee Handbook. This policy was written with input from employees and has been reviewed and recommended by the Personnel Committee, City Administrator and Human Resources. J son, Mayor ATTES harlene Fridges, City C CITY OF LAKEVILLE Dress Code Policy (non-uniformed City employees) All employees contribute to the feeling and reputation of the City of Lakeville in the way they present themselves. A professional appearance is essential to creating and maintaining a favorable impression with citizens and customers. Good grooming and appropriate dress reflect employee pride and inspire customer confidence in our professionalism. Department directors and managers have the discretion to determine appropriateness in appearance.. Employees are asked to maintain the following dress code policy. This policy applies to all personnel, with the exception of employes who are required to wear uniforms. Business Attire: Monda through Thursday (professional Appropriate dress includes: o Suits,. Pant Suits, Sport Coats, Ties o Dress slacks, pants, khakis, colored jeans (not blue denim) o Dress shirt with or without a tie o Dresses, skirts and jumpers (length no more than 3 inches above the knee) o Blouses, shirts, sweaters, or pullovers o Hosiery must be worn at all times, no bare legs or ankles. o Any type of business shoe (heels, flats, etc.) Business Attire: Monday throu Thursday (technical or field personnel - as identified b~Department Head) Appropriate dress includes: o. Any of the above o T-shirts (solid color or city logo only, without slogans or advertising) o Sweatshirts (plain or decorative -without slogans or advertising ) o Denim jeans or heavy work clothes o Boots or heavy work shoes (impact resistant as required) Business .Casual Attire: Friday's Appropriate dress includes: o Any of the above o Casual slacks or pants o Shirts with collars (polo or golf style) o Sweatshirts (plain or decorative -without slogans or advertising) o City of Lakeville logo attire o Blue denim jeans (no tears or holes) o Athletic shoes (in good condition) Summer Attire: Monday - Frida~(May 1 -0ctober 1) Appropriate dress includes: o Any of the above o Capri pants o Shirts with collars or City of Lakeville logo attire o .Short sleeve pullovers or sleeveless tops o Sandals (no flip flops) o Hosiery optional Inappropriate dress at any time includes: o Shorts (unless authorized in advance by the department director, i.e. outdoor program work) o T-shirts with slogans, tank tops, halter-tops, muscle shirts or crop tops (skin must not show) o Stirrup pants, leggings, sweat pants or exercise attire o Mini skirts or skorts o Flip flops or other unprofessional footwear including worn out shoes or athletic shoes o Hats (inside City Hall) When meeting with clients, citizens or outside business professionals, business attire is appropriate.. Management may make exceptions for special occasions. An employee unsure of what is appropriate should check with his/her department director. Please be considerate of co-workers, citizens and. other guests. Good personal hygiene is a must. The use of perfume and cologne should be minimal and considerate of the potential sensitivity (allergies, illness) of others. This policy maybe amended to accommodate requests based on cultural or religious beliefs. The City of Lakeville reserves the right to amend this policy at any time, Policy date: July 7, 2003
