HomeMy WebLinkAbout03-247 . ~ CITY OF LAKEVILLE DAKOTA COUNTY, MINNESOTA RESOLUTION Date December 15, 2003 Resolution 03-247 Motion By Luiek Seconded By Bellows RESOLUTION SETTING COMPENSATION AND REIMBURSEMENT RATES FOR FIREFIGHTERS WHEREAS, volunteer firefighters are required to attend various training sessions and to complete various firefighter skills and education courses. in order to retain their active status; and WHEREAS, the Fire Deparhnent has determined that a nominal fee should be paid to the firefighters to defray the costs of means and transportation while attending skills and education courses; and WHEREAS, the City has determined that a nominal fee should also be paid to firefighters to reimburse them for expenses incurred in responding to calls. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Lakeville: 4. All regular and probationary firefighters shall be paid the following fees for approved training and conference attendance: a) $12.50 per training session for regular schedule training, up to a maximum of 25 training sessions per firefighter per year; b) $12.50 per training session for supplemental firefighting training courses; c) $12.50 per training session for specialized water rescue and hazardous material training; d) e) $12.50 per. training session for specialized technical/confined space rescue training; f) $25.00 per day for approved conferences. g) Probationary firefighters will be paid at 50% of the rates described in subsections a-e above.. Upon successful completion of the probationary period, the firefighter will be compensatedfor the remaining 50%. 5. Effective January 1, 2004, all firefighters shall be compensated at a nominal. fee for each call to which they respond as follows: a) All regular firefighters shall be paid $6.25 for each call to which they respond; b) Probationary firefighters shall be paid at 50% of the regular firefighter rate, or $3.125 for each call. Upon successful completion of the probationary period, the firefighter will be .compensated for the remaining 50% for each call to which they responded; and. c) Firefighters who are also City employees will only be paid for calls if a call begins or ends outside of the employee's normal work hours, or if a call begins or ends during the employee's regularly scheduled lunch break. 6. .Payment shall be made biannually in January and July.
