MONTHLY REPORT
ARTS CENTER
NOVEMBER, 2010
• The General Election polling place for Precinct 1 was the Lakeville Area Arts Center on
November 2.
• The Minnesota Photography Club held its November meeting at the LAAC on Thursday,
November 4.
• Bill and Kate Isles performed a concert on Saturday, November 6.
• The steering committee for the Dakota County Arts Collaborative met at the LAAC on
Wednesday, November 10.
• Expressions! Community Theater opened its production of Mind Over Matt on November
12 and played the second and third weekends of November.
• The Glenn Quist art exhibit continued through November 28.
• The LAAC classroom was the site for a baby shower on November 13.
• Valerie Miller preschool rented the theater for a children's program on November 15.
• The Music Staff studio presented a recital on Tuesday, November 16.
• The Wine Academy Series continued with a presentation by Riedel Stemware on
November 17.
• The Play's the Thing theater company moved its set for 70, Girls, 70 onto the stage
November 28. The production opens December 11.

• Holiday Art Sale and Empty Bowls Fundraiser will be held December 10, noon to 5 p.m.,
and December 11, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
• Simple Gifts will perform on December 10 to a sold -out show.
• 70, Girls, 70, will open on December 11.
• Monroe Crossing will perform on December 17 to a sold -out show.

Administration
• Assisted in coordination of Miracle Field construction
• Administered /coordinated installation of irrigation system at King Park Fields #7 & #8
Maintenance of Buildings, Park Facilities & General Grounds
• Cut out swale to rain garden at Casperson boat launch
• Removed boarding docks at Orchard Lake and Casperson boat launches
• Prepared and set fishing piers for winter
• Removed leaves from gutters at Aronson, History Building and Arts Center
• Pruned and removed leaves from all perennial beds
• Removed all flags from system (except Veterans site) and turned off spot lights
• Repaired drainage issues along trails
• Installed holiday lights at Pioneer /Market Plaza for Holiday Lighting Ceremony
• Completed barrel consolidation and brought barrels to CMF for painting
• Installed "No Snowmobiling" barricades throughout system
• Installed fence and "No Snowmobiling" signs at Orchard Lake Beach
• Plowed trails and parking lots from two snowfall events
• Re- graded area between Dakota Heights hockey rink and pleasure rink
• Repaired pavers at Pioneer Plaza
Turf - Related Maintenance
• Completed fall fertilization and aeration in parks along with final mowing
Athletic Fields
• Striped four football fields at Lakeville South High School for tournament
Landscaping/ Forestry
• Removed and /or trimmed approximately 50 damaged trees from heavy snowfall
• Removed 10 -12 dead trees from west side of Lynwood Heights Park
Trails
• Staked trails for winter plowing and completed off- street trail maintenance
Signs
• Replaced old "Pooper Scooper" signs on west side of East Community Park trail
• Installed "Equestrian Trails Open Until Further Notice" signs at Ritter Farm Park
Special Events
• Prepared Veterans Memorial site for Veterans Day Event

• Hockey and pleasure rinks open for season

• Medicare Enrollment Presentations — popular subject this time of year because of open
enrollment; 20 people attended.
• "A Farm Country Thanksgiving" (Nov. 19) — a local author, Gordon Fredrickson, read his
newest book to an audience of 25 people. Walker's Highview Hills provided refreshments.
• "Cooking Around the World" class on Nov. 12 was full. Participants made a French meal.
• The Red Hat club celebrated Thanksgiving with lunch at the Chart House.
• The Current Event Discussion Group is really going well. Members are enjoying their
discussions.
• Both the Senior Chorus and Red Hat Chorus are practicing Christmas music for their
December performances.
• We received good feedback on our new hearing check program.
• We received several positive comments on our Veteran's Day presentation featuring
Sally Lieber, who served in the Air Force in the 1970s. About 25 people attended.
• The Senior Center was decorated for the holidays.
• 10 new members during this time period. Total membership is 1,054.
