Mixed Municipal Solid Waste and Recyclable Material Collector Licenses for 2011
Proposed Action
Staff recommends approval of the following motion: Approve Mixed Municipal Solid
Waste and Recyclable Material Collector Licenses for 2011.
Overview
The City Code requires that a waste hauler engaged in the collection of mixed
municipal solid waste and recyclable material within the City of Lakeville must first
obtain a license approved by the City Council. The City Code provides two classes of
licenses. A "Class A" license authorizes the collection of mixed municipal solid waste
and /or recyclable material from all locations within the city. No more than 6 "Class A"
licenses may be in force at any time. A "Class 8" license authorizes collection from
commercial and multiple family (apartment) dwellings. There is no limit on the number
of "Class B" licenses.
As provided in the City Code, no collection of mixed municipal solid waste and
recyclable material shall be made except between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m.,
Monday through Friday. The City Code does not specifically regulate collection times
and dates in a given neighborhood.
The following waste haulers have submitted applications for 2011 licenses. Liability
insurance certificates have been provided, and each hauler has paid the $375 annual
license fee.
