HomeMy WebLinkAboutItem 06.gMay 16, 2011 Proposed Action Staff recommends adoption of the following motion: Move to approve Resolution Authorizing the Sale of Assets (Siren). Overview The City has a siren which is 35 years old that was previously located at 163` and Cedar Avenue. The siren had to be relocated due to the Cedar Avenue construction project. The replacement siren will be a larger capacity to notify areas which currently do not receive the recommended warning signal. Staff recommends selling the old siren to the highest bidder. Primary Issues to Consider • Public notification. Notice of the siren auction will be advertised in the Messages edition. Also, pictures and descriptions of the asset will be posted to the City web -site, Craig's List, League of Minnesota Cities and will be sent to the Emergency Management Directors in other Minnesota cities.
