HomeMy WebLinkAboutItem 06.rDate: 24 May 2011 Item No. APPROVAL OF BOOSTER PUMP INSTALLATION AND COST SHARE AGREEMENT WITH CHRISTOPHER AND TAMMY OMDAL, 18065 IXONIA AVENUE Proposed Action Staff recommends adoption of the following motion: Move to approve the attached agreement between the City of Lakeville and Christopher and Tammy Omdal for the installation and cost sharing of a booster pump. Passage of this motion will enable the City to reimburse the Omdal's 50 percent of the purchase and installation cost in accordance with the attached agreement. Overview The elevation of some homes in Lakeville, in relation to the water towers, results in the potential for low water pressure especially during high demand periods when the water level in the tower is low. This affects some homes in the Dakota Heights area and is the case with the Omdal property located on Ixonia Avenue. The Omdal's property is adjacent to the Dakota Heights water tower and is only slightly lower in elevation. This small difference in elevation does not provide for a consistent water pressure. The installation of a booster pump will improve water pressure in the residence. The City uses the attached agreement to provide an equitable and cost effective solution for both the resident and the City. Under the agreement, the City reimburses the property owner 50 percent of the cost of purchase and installation based on prices provided by the property owner and verified by staff. Staff has reviewed the agreement and recommends approval. Primary Issues to Consider • Are there alternatives to a booster pump? There are no cost effective alternatives to the installation of a booster pump to increase water pressure in a residence. Supporting Information • A copy of the agreement is attached. Chri • • er J.
