'RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING PLACEMENT OF STOP SIGNS ON
IPAVA AVENUE. AT THE INTERSECTION WITH
IREDELL COURT CREATING AN
ALL-WAY STOP INTERSECTION
WHEREAS, pursuant to state statute, it is necessary for city council to authorize all stop
sign placements on public right-ofway, and
WHEREAS, SRF Consulting. Group, was commissioned to do a traffic. operation and
safety review of said intersection, Exhibit A attached, and
WHEREAS, the recommendation of the traffic operations and safety review concluded
and recommended that, based on the combination of limited intersection site distance,
higher speeds, traffic volume and safety considerations, it is recommended that the
installation of all-way stop control at the intersection of Ipava Avenue and Iredell Court
is justified and all-way stop controfat the intersection. will mitigate the site distance
limitations, facilitate pedestrian crossing activity and potentially improve traffic safety,..
and
WHEREAS, .the placement. of stop signs on the. north and south lanes of Ipava Avenue
would create an all.-way stop control intersection.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that stop signs are authorized for placement
on the north and south lanes of Ipava Avenue at l'redell Court, creating an all-way stop
.intersection.
