Item No.
Staff recommends adoption of the following motion: Move to approve the Resolution
Approving Salaries for Seasonal Employees and Instructors
Passage of this motion will change the classification of certain independent contractors
to employees.
The Arts Center has previously engaged the services of individuals by executing
contracts with them to perform functions such as lighting and sound, class instruction,
and community theatre performances. The City, along with the IRS, has reviewed the
status of these positions using IRS guidelines and has determined that these
individuals should be considered employees — not independent contractors.
The resolution establishes these positions as seasonal employees pursuant to IRS
rules and regulations.
