Lakeville Liquors held a beer tasting seminar on Wednesday, May 4. The Minnesota Photography Club met at the LAAC on Thursday, May 5. Lakeville South High School held it annual art exhibit and reception on Thursday, May 5. Lakeville North High School’s Now and Then Singers performed their Cabaret Show on Friday and Saturday, May 6 and 7. Old Friend Productions rented the theater for a concert on Sunday, May 8. The Area Learning Center rented the theater for a program on Monday, May 9. The Lakeville Rotary hosted its annual Taste of Lakeville on Thursday, May 12. The District 194 Early Childhood Dept. held a staff retirement party on Friday, May 13. The LAAC held a retirement party for its long-time oil painting teacher, Hermine Magnus on Friday, May 13. Children’s Castle Theatre began auditions for its summer production of on Monday, May 16. Lakeville South High School held its annual art exhibit and reception on Tues., May 16. Teachers from School District 917 held a retirement party for staff on Tues., May 17. The Mrs. Minnesota USA pageant was held at the LAAC on Saturday, May 21. Ballet Royale of Minnesota held its end of the season performance on Sunday, May 22. The Lakeville Senior Center held an informational meeting regarding the possible relocation of the Senior Center and the Historical Society. The Play’s the Thing Productions presented May 26-28. The third grade classes from Orchard Lake Elementary toured the LAAC on Fri., May 27. Special events were: Senior Day at St. Croix Casino in Turtle Lake, WI o “Heart Restart” CPR program o Diabetic Foot Care Presentation o Senior Center garage sale, as part of the city-wide garage sales o Spa-Like Pampering by Mary Kay Cosmetics o Downtown Lakeville walking tour o Eight motorcycle club members went on their first ride of the season. The 12 pickleball players hit the courts for the first time this season. The men’s golf league took their first swings at the Gopher Hills Golf Course in Cannon Falls. Their league consists of 50 members. The Kenwood Trail Middle School students who help with our monthly newsletter distribution were invited to take the downtown Lakeville walking tour with us. Afterwards, they returned to the Senior Center for pizza. It was an end-of-the-year celebration; 40 people participated. 17 new members during this time period. Total membership is 1,197.
