Subject: Proclaim June 27 as Kyle Malin Day
City of Lakeville
Communications
U.S. Army Staff Sgt. Kyle Malin, who grew up in Lakeville, served three tours in Iraq
and was deployed to Afghanistan in June, 2010. On July 14, while on patrol, Staff
Sgt Malin was severely injured by an IED and lost both legs in the explosion.
Kyle spent months recuperating at Walter Reed Hospital before being transferred to
Fort Sam Houston to receive ongoing care and rehabilitation.
Now, after many surgeries and months of rehabilitation, Kyle and his wife Alicia and
two young sons will be returning home to Lakeville to visit his parents Deb and Jon.
He has been chosen to raise the flag at the June 27 Twins game.
In honor of his homecoming and the sacrifices that both Kyle and his family have
made for our country, Lakeville Yellow Ribbon has requested that June 27 be named
Kyle Malin Day in Lakeville.
