LLE PLANNING COMMISSION
MINUTES
OCTOBER 30, 1975
#388 Motion to recommend approval of application of
Mr. James Cory of a conditional-use permit to
operate an ice arena in "old ear auction" building,
located at Hwy 65 and Co Rd 6~+, was made and carried;
time limitation was one year.
#3~9 Natural Pipelines building plan for a Morton Bldg. on
their property on Hwy 65, western part of Lakeville,
was approved, if decorative facing was put rn the north
side.
#390 Building plan of Anderson's Wooden Products to be
built at Airlake Industrial Park at Granada Av. and
. 217th St, was approved.
Unanimous recommendation was given to the 185th Street
and Dodd Blvd site for the proposed new City Hall,
because of its centralized location. Consideration
that possibility of new public library in the future,
also, be given.
Nothing to report from committee that was formed to
re-assess the home .occupation ordinance at this time.
(Material is due Council by Nov. 15th.}
Draft of proposed shoreland ordinance was read and
discussed. Members thought a wetlands ordinance would
also be in order. Action and report is asked by IX+TR
by May 1976.
IMPORTANT NOTE TO COUNCIL: Mayor and Council are respectfully asked to
attend the next Planning Commission meeting, November 13th, at x:30 PM
at the Municipal Building in Airlake, to help find solutions to eon-
fronting problems.

• Chairman H. Lau called the meeting to order with. Lau, Lutgens, Antolik, Campbell,
and Haglund present. Motion to approve the minutes as read of meeting held Sept. 15th
was made by Lutgens-Campbell. Motion carried.
Public hearing of Mr. James Cory for conditional use permit to operate an ice
'arena in "old" car auction building at corner of Co. Rd 6~+ and #65, was begun. A
letter written by 1~. Roberts, owner of land to the east of the building, was read.
He is in opposition to an ice arena, feeling that an ice arena attracts unsavory.
characters and there is a possiblity that the City might have to operate it if Mr.
Cory does not do well.
#388 Motion to approve application of Mr. James Cory to operate an ice arena at
the corner of Co Rd 6~+ and X65, was made by Haglund-Campbell. Motion carried.
(This motion also included one year time limit.)
#~38g Motion by Campbell-Lutgens to approve building plan of Natural Pipelines to
erect a Morton building on their property on Hwy 65 between Co. Rd. 70 and
south boundary line of the City, based on the condition that you put some
sort of facing on the north side. Motion carried.
X390 Building plan for Anderson's Wood Products to be located in Airlake Park
on 217th St. was recommended for approval by Haglund-Campbell, Motion carried.
Recommendation was made unanimously that the site of proposed new city hall
• should be located at 185th St. and Dodd Blvd, which is a centralized location for
the City. Consideration is asked that future public library might also be located
here.
Planner Steve Ryan was present and gave a report on the joint Urban Service
Area Concept Plan meeting that was held October 7th.
Campbell and Jojade are the two Planning Commission members who are on a
committee that is to re-assess the home occupation ordinance that was proposed.
Mr. Campbell reported that there have been at least two meetings, but he was only
able to go to the first one. This committee's report is due Council by November 15th,
The draft of a proposed shoreland ordinance was read and discussed. It was the
opinion of several members that a wetlands ordinance should also be drafted. Written
comments from both the engineer and attorney are asked regarding the proposed shoreland
ordinance. Action on shoreland ordinance is to be sent DNR by May 1976.
IMPORTANT NOTE TO COUNCIL: Planning Com?r~ission is faced with possible resignation
of its Chairman and Member J. Haglund. Would Mayor and Council come to meeting
with Planning Commission on November 13th, at x:30 PM, Municipal Building, to discuss
the problems and possible solutions.
