authorizing the temporary closure of Holyoke Avenue from 207 Street West to 209
Street West in Downtown Lakeville from 5:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on July 21

to hold its Watermelon Days event in the closed street section of Downtown Lakeville.
Overview

closure for a portion of Holyoke Avenue in Downtown Lakeville from 207 Street West
to 209 Street West. The DLBA is hosting a Watermelon Days event, which will feature
a band, food /watermelon and games. The Downtown retailers will also be holding
sidewalk sales.
The Police Department is issuing a parade permit in conjunction with this activity and
will be providing police reserve officers for traffic control during the road closure.
Streets Division staff will place the necessary signage and barricades for the temporary
closure. The DLBA has agreed to reimburse the City for Street Division staff overtime
costs.
Staff recommends approval of the street closure resolution.
Primary Issues to Consider
Are the business owners aware of the proposed temporary street closure? The DLBA
is coordinating this event with all of the Downtown businesses.
