Membership of the LAHS currently consists of 26 individuals, 18 families, and 11 corporations. Additionally 54 interested friends, families and organizations have requested inclusion on a non - members' mailing list. The Historical Society continues to solicit old newspaper clippings, photos, and artifacts, and also collects obituary notices. As time goes on, these items will become more valuable to people who are researching their family histories. Students, scout groups, and others learn more about the history of the area by visiting the variety of displays in the building. The Lakeville Area Historical Society marked its 15th year in July 2010. The organization is supported by many volunteers who donate hundreds of hours each year to setting up displays, planning programs, and providing tours of the building. Without their assistance it would not be possible to continue preserving Lakeville's history. The Lakeville Area Historical Society published its 14t annual historical calendar in 2010 with twelve unique photos of Lakeville's past. The very popular calendars are purchased at local retailers by individuals who wish to add to their collections and by corporate members as promotional items for their businesses. Commemorative calendar sets which include all of the previously published calendars are also available. Annual calendar sales are the Lakeville Area Historical Society's largest fundraising effort. 2010 Program Offerings: All programs that were offered in 2010 were open to the public.
