HomeMy WebLinkAboutItem 06.dAugust 9, 2011 Item No. Consider approval of Resolution 11 -86 adding an alternate position to the City of Lakeville Finance Committee Proposed Action Staff recommends adoption of the following motion: Move to approve Resolution 11 -86 adding an alternate position to the Lakeville Finance Committee: Adoption of this motion will result in expanding the membership of the Finance Committee to include an Alternate who would become a voting member in the absence of any regular member. Overview On May 16, 2011 City Council adopted Resolution 11 -46, establishing a City Finance Committee, however, the resolution did not allow for an alternate member. Adding an alternate member to the Finance Committee will make it consistent with other City of Lakeville advisory committees. Primary Issues to Consider • What is the purpose of an alternate member? An alternate committee member would be available to vote on issues in the absence of any regular member. In some instances this could alleviate the possibility of a tie vote. • What is the term of office? The term of office is one year, from April 1st through March 31st, which is consistent with alternate members of other City advisory committees. Supporting Information Steven C.
